The following is our Consignment policy, should you decide to consign rather than donate some of your gently used or new items.:

JANUARY 2016

Almost all merchandise at The Treasure House has been generously donated from supporters of the community based service programs offered by Metropolitan Family Services Dupage. On occasion, select items of furniture, or sets of crystal or china, may be placed on consignment. Items eligible for consignment must, at the sole discretion of Treasure House Management, qualify for a minimum sales value to be set at $25. per item or more. 100% of the proceeds from donated items directly support Metropolitan Family Services Dupage (MFSD). Proceeds from consignment items are split with 50% going to the consignor and 50% supporting MFSD60 day consignment period, the split on the sold items will be calculated on a 50/50 basis. The portion of the sale received by MFSD as well as the value of the donation of unsold items, if any remain, may be considered tax deductible to the consignor.

Consignment checks are generally issued two weeks after the expiration of the consignment period.  There is a $2.00 processing fee charged by MFSD for each consignment agreement.  Our Volunteer staff member will call you at the end of your consignment to confirm whether you will be donating or reclaiming your unsold merchandise (we thrive on donations and appreciate your donations after your consignment has expired)

In order to maintain the quality and value that our customers have come to expect, all items are reviewed by our team of merchandisers prior to being placed for sale in the shop. Due to space constraints, market demand, and current stock, not all items will be accepted at all times. Please know we appreciate your  interest in supporting Metropolitan Family Services Dupage.

There are several ways to place items for consignment in the shop:
·      Provide photos via email (meyerm@metrofamily.org)
·      Onsite preview appointments
·      At store consignment appointments (available weekdays during store hours)
Transportation and unloading of consigned items is the responsibility of the consignor... please call in advance to make an appointment.  WE DO NOT ACCEPT CONSIGNMENTS ON SATURDAYS.

Items we cannot accept for consignment include electronics, mattresses, entertainment centers, linens, sofabeds, holiday décor, large office desks and most lamps and artwork.  Furs will be accepted for consignment between Oct 15th and Dec 15th each year.

Once accepted, merchandise remains in the shop for 60 days with a price reduction of 20% after 30 days. If unsold in 60 days, you may reclaim the item or donate it to the shop. Un-reclaimed items remaining in the shop after 67 days will have the price reduced to 50% off and automatically become the property of the Treasure House.  Also, bids will be considered during the final 10 days 0f the consignment period and are accepted only with your approval. This pricing policy promotes an ever-changing inventory.

All items are left at the consignor’s risk and although the Treasure House will make all reasonable efforts to keep the item safe and in good condition, neither the Treasure House, nor any of its employees or volunteers are responsible for the loss, damage or theft of any item.

  1. Hi, I had some recent health issues and lost a ton of weight. Now I have all this clothing with some brand new pants and shirts. I have some suits, coats and everything else. Would you be interested in putting the new items on consignment and I would donate the rest. Jim C.
